Benefits Specialist, Total Rewards *Hybrid

 

The Benefits Specialist requires a working knowledge of benefits, policies, and procedures and performs duties in the area of benefits, including but not limited to COBRA, Medical, Life, and Disability programs. This position maintains accurate records, processes and systems as well as communicates expectations and changes to the Total Rewards Team and employees throughout all areas in the company.

 

*We are open to a hybrid work schedule for this position (remote & working in the office)

To give you an idea of the team structure, you will work on a team with benefits and compensation professionals, reporting to the Benefits supervisor.

Below is an overview of the duties and responsibilities you would take on in this role:

  • Administer various employee benefit programs such as medical, vision, group life, life and disability insurance.
  • Prepare all government reports, keep all relevant records, and assist accounting department in preparation of reports and forms.
  • Coordinate procedures to initiate participation in benefit programs such as medical, life, and disability insurance.
  • Produce and present training material and modules for communicating benefits related information and procedures.
  • Assist employees in understanding the companies benefit offerings and act as a liaison between Heartland Dental and third-party providers.
  • Support external partnerships and details of data exchanges between parties.
  • Remain up to date on compliance requirements and develop streamlined systems for tracking and administering.
  • Responsible for accurately entering payroll deductions for newly elected benefits or modified benefit elections.
  • Establish reporting of key metrics related to the specific benefits programs on a monthly basis as part of the departments overall reporting package for stakeholder review.
  • Provide Tier 2 customer service to employees throughout the organization, present benefits and other HR related information for various groups.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Completion of one of the following: Five years of experience in Benefits, Human Resources, or related field OR Associate degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field and not less than one year of experience in Human Resources, Benefits or related field OR Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to convey technical information to non-technical users
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to work with co-workers in a collegial manner to accomplish common tasks
  • High level of maturity, personal initiative, and sound judgement
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Benefits Administration Experience
  • SHRM- SCP, CP or SPHR, PHR certification
