When is IV sedation used in dentistry?

IV sedation may be used to help patients feel more relaxed while receiving extensive or painful dental treatments. Dentists may also use it to help patients with dental anxiety receive necessary dental work they otherwise might not otherwise be able to sit through due to overwhelming anxiety.
