Apexification is an endodontic procedure that stimulates root development for a tooth that isn't fully developed or closes the open "apex" of a tooth that may have been damaged as a result of a traumatic dental injury. It creates a rigid, calcified tissue barrier at the apex to seal the root canal. Apexification is often used in conjunction with root canal treatments and is typically performed on adolescent patients.
